Project Description
La Quinta - Economic Development
https://econdev.laquintaca.gov/
"The City of La Quinta’s Economic Development Department is dedicated to providing comprehensive assistance to businesses at every stage of development. By working hand-in-hand with new and existing businesses, the city is fostering growth that will encourage investment in the community and employment opportunities for area residents."
- Excerpt From La Quinta
I had the pleasure of designing La Quinta’s city site. During the workshop, it was an instant connection with the team at La Quinta. I really understood what they wanted to communicate. From that experience, they requested me as the visual designer for the economic development site. It was amazing getting a chance to work with them again. When a client starts a meeting by saying, "We love Taleah!" I'd say we were the perfect fit for both projects.

Style Guide & Inspiration
Wireframes & Design First Impressions
The UX team provided the approved wireframe. Subtle but effective changes were made to the initial wireframe in order to substantiate the goals of the website. The initial design was presented to stakeholders.
Final UI Design
The final design nails the goals of creating a more modern and forward-thinking site. I went with an open concept header that gradually fades & transitions into the full-width hero image. The hero image along with the other images are of the highest quality and appeal to their target audiences. Slightly pushing the envelope with slanted lines and angles that take you on a journey as you continue to scroll. The focus was to maintain a clean design aesthetic while staying true to the brand and cementing La Quinta as the premiere destination and leaders in the valley. La Quinta was very pleased with the initial design as there were no revisions.
Responsive Mobile
La Quinta Economic Development went with a liquid layout that adjusts during the resizing of a browser window. On mobile devices, the layout behaves similarly by resizing to fit the screen of the device used. The main navigation is tucked away into the hamburger menu while the search icon converts to a search bar. Content from each section of the site stacks vertically in columns. Columns vary between 1 or 2 items to best utilize the space.
